Stories of Travel, Adventure, Conservation, & Agriculture

Hey, I'm Jordan!

I’m a journalist, copywriter, photographer, plant nerd, birdwatcher, and adventure junkie. I craft stories and content for brands like Travel+Leisure, Southern Exposure Seed Exchange, Offrange, Business Insider, and Audubon.

Before diving headfirst into my writing career, I earned a bachelor’s degree in ecology from Sterling College of Vermont. This hands-on field and research experience has helped me accurately uncover and share stories of agriculture, outdoor adventure, conservation, and travel.

As a photographer, I capture shots that bring my stories and subjects into focus. I’m always lugging a heavy camera along whether I’m exploring the ancient pyramids and ball court of Los Guachimontones in Mexico, paddling through old-growth cypress forest in Georgia, or crawling through a cave 150 feet below the surface of West Virginia.

Beyond the Page

While I love the thrill of booking my next scuba diving adventure, discovering the latest breakthrough for honeybees, or watching a rare heirloom flower bloom in my garden, my “why” for writing has always been larger than those joys. In the natural world, I’ve found meaning and connection. Through my work, I have the opportunity to share that connection with others, whether it’s encouraging others to start a seed swap to help preserve diversity, inspiring people to move off-grid, or teaching folks how to support efforts to end parrot trafficking. It’s my hope that I can help readers fall in love with and learn to protect this blue planet.

I practice what I preach and am dedicated to making my business as sustainable as possible. My office and home run on solar power. I prioritize eco-friendly travel options, and I work with like-minded brands and publications. I also adhere to a strict no-AI policy because no amount of editing help or computer software is worth trading for my neighbor’s clean drinking water.
